Amodu Shuaibu’s Death, Another Colossal Loss – Saraki

Nigeria’s Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on Saturday expressed grief over the death of a former boss of the Super Eagles, Coach Amodu Shuaibu, describing it as another colossal national loss.

Dr. Saraki in a statement by his spokesman, Yusuph Olaniyonu, commiserated with the family of the late Technical Director of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) over the unfortunate incident.

Particularly Sad

He described the incident as particularly sad, coming barely 72 hours after the country lost another national sports hero, Mr Stephen Keshi.

The Senate President said the deceased contributed immensely to the development of football in Nigeria and the greater strides the nation had recorded so far in sports development.

He urged the younger generation to use their lifetime to make meaningful contributions to national development.

“The ex-coach left indelible footprints on the sands of time.

“He will be remembered for his immense contributions to the growth of football in Nigeria and by extension the African continent,” the Senate President emphasised.

While praying God to grant the departed soul a place in Aljannah Girdaus, he called on the immediate family, NFF and the sports community to take solace in the fact that late Amodu lived his life in the service of the nation.

The four-time Coach of the Super Eagles complained of chest pains on Friday night and died in his sleep. He was 58 years old.

Mr Shaibu’s death comes three days after the death of former Super Eagles Captain and Coach, Stephen Keshi.
